Not of This World Bookstore
In the spirit of St. Innocent of Alaska, Apostle to America, our community is reaching out to those who have never heard of the Orthodox faith. Our primary mission is through "Not of This World Bookstore" at 553 Mendocino Avenue. The bookstore offers those who have not had any any experience with Eastern Orthodoxy a way to experience the treasures which the Orthodox Church has to offer. The bookstore offers all types of books, icons, and literature for spreading Orthodox Christianity. We also host frequent lectures and bible studies on topics relevant to our faith and Christian walk. Church services are occasionally held at the bookstore chapel.
Not of This World Bookstore has been operating for thirteen years, serving spiritual seekers and the Orthodox community in Santa Rosa and throughout the United States.
Catacomb Café
The youth of Holy Dormition Orthodox Church transform the bookstore into the Catacomb Café every Friday night as an outreach to the troubled teens on the streets of Santa Rosa, CA. The Café offers these young people a means to escape the world’s atmosphere and to have a place where they can experience wholesome, yet interesting conversation. We invite them in by offering free espresso drinks of their choice and routinely show the newcomers our chapel located in the back of the bookstore. We feel it is our mission to bring the love of God to these spiritually starved young people. In a typical Catacomb Café evening, we will serve up to 100 young people.
