Music Ministry

"Music touches the soul in a very unique way. When we bring beautiful and uplifting music to others in our culture, whether young or old, the hearts of many will be touched and inspired towards the Lord. As orthodox Christians, singing and playing music is a way of bringing the "good news" to many souls who are thirsting for God. it is also a way of counter acting the abundance of godless music which bombards our culture." Popadia Elizabeth Skopp

Music is an essential part of every feast and festival in our church. Popadia Elizabeth Skopp provides the leadership for our Music Ministry and conducts the Choral Ensemble. The Holy Dormition Choral Ensemble has become popular among the local home schooling community, and is growing rapidly, more than half the musicians and singers are not members of our church. The ensemble performs at our festivals and are welcome guests at many of the local retirement communities and nursing homes. Our young people are encouraged in musical pursuits and are integral to this ministry.

A group of our youth have formed a band that performs often. When playing bluegrass or gospel music they are known as Living H2O. They are also known as Lorica when they play traditional celtic music.

This Thanksgiving three of our groups of musicians, Living H2O, Hearts Afire and the Harrison Family Band, performed at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds for the Thanksgiving dinner provided by the Redwood Gospel Mission.

During the Christmas season we like to go caroling our first stop is always the neighborhood Chtistmas party at the local fire station.

We also made a stop at Andy's Market in Sebastopol, one of our favorite places to get produce.
